2008 Texas Quality Cruise – Deadline June 25!

Don’t delay – reserve your cabin today for the Seminar at Sea! Join ASQ Sections from Houston, Dallas, Austin and Fort Worth (host Section) along with the Quality Texas Foundation and ASQ Human Development and Leadership Division for the Texas Quality Cruise October 26 – November 2. Seminar sessions will be held on days at sea with up to 3.0 RUs available depending on participation. The rest of the time is yours!
Prices start at $550 for an inside cabin plus $125 for seminar participation. Compare this to $350-$500 a day for conference fees plus lodging, meals and ground transportation if you were to attend a “land-based” conference. A $250 deposit holds your cabin and the rest is due in August.

Dallas ASQ 2008 Scholarship Recipients
The Dallas Section recently awarded two Memorial scholarships at our meeting on May 23, 2008. The annual educational scholarships are funded by the Section and presented on behalf of members who have given of their time and energy in the improvement of this Section and community and are now deceased. The Dallas ASQ Memorial Scholarship program is open to Section members and their families. The 2008 recipients are Amanda Ellis and Rachel Skelton.

Amanda Ellis is the daughter of member Beckie Ellis. She is studying Education at the University of North Texas. Beckie has been a member of the Dallas Section since May 1995, and is currently Chair of the Lean Six Sigma SIG as well as incoming Secretary.

Rachel Skelton is the daughter of member Ty Skelton. She is studying Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University. Ty has been a member of the Dallas Section since February 2004.
We congratulate both Amanda and Rachel on their scholarship awards and wish them the best as they continue with their studies.

Members, we are looking for nominations for the Member Leader Excellence Award ("MLEA"). The Dallas Section can recognize up to 2 individuals with this ASQ award for outstanding contributions to ASQ at the local, regional or national level. Accomplishments must be for the current ASQ year (July 1, 2007 - June 30, 2008). The criteria and scoring are explained on the MLEA Nomination Form. The deadline for nominations is June 30, 2008. Members, we seek your help in identifying professionals, perhaps yourself, who have valuable leadership to give to ASQ Dallas, our famously successful Section of ASQ that has the mission of being the leader of quality and performance excellence for the Dallas area. After all, the greater Dallas area is the home to nine recipients of the Baldrige Award.

Placement Chair: Our section is looking for someone to help coordinate the section’s job placement program to facilitate access to professional opportunities for our section members and assist area companies with recruiting quality professionals.
