Chair's Message - Marion Bize - September, 2008
I hope you are all ready to get the ASQ “year” underway. We have a great line-up of speakers and are excited about our new meeting location. Several new members joined our Section over the summer and I'm looking forward to seeing both familiar and new faces at our September Professional Development meeting. To register for the September 25 meeting with Jami Hampton, go to http://www.asqdallas.org/registration.html. Details are in the Professional Development Meeting section of the newsletter. Please visit our website, www.asqdallas.org, and our calendar to get the latest information on events planned for the upcoming year.
Other events planned for the fall include:
- The 2 nd Annual North Texas Quality Classic Golf Tournament on September 26, 2008 at Bear Creek Golf Club. Register by September 23 for just $100. For more information, click here.
- The Texas Quality Cruise , which we co-host with other ASQ organizations and the Quality Texas Foundation takes place from October 26 – November 2 . For more information and to register, please review the PowerPoint presentation and click on the registration link. Compare the cost to a 3-day conference which typically runs upward of $1500 by the time you figure in hotel and transportation.
- Our October PD meeting is on October 21 – a Tuesday. Watch the newsletter for more information.
I hope you will consider volunteering with the Dallas Section, whether you can spend a lot of time or only a few hours a month. Volunteering with the Section is a great way to meet people and earn RUs at the same time. Please visit this link to view open positions or contact me at marion.bize@alcatel-lucent.com to find out which committees need members.
One of our goals is to continually improve by implementing suggestions from our members. We always welcome input from you. Please email me at marion.bize@alcatel-lucent.com with your suggestions.
Sadly, we recently lost one of our long-time Section members. Jerry Knowles passed away unexpectedly on September 7. He had been a member since 1994 and was active in both the Audit and TL 9000 Special Interest Groups. I knew Jerry well, having worked with him for several years at AT&T. He brought a lot to the Quality profession and will be missed.
Our Vision: The Dallas ASQ Section 1402 is the leader of quality and performance excellence for the Dallas area.
Our Mission: It is our Mission to provide the information, forums, certifications, and networking that enhances members' value.
Marion Bize, Chair - ASQ Dallas Section 1402
