Chair's Message - Marion Bize - October, 2008

Marion BizeIt is that time of year again – the seasons are changing, temperatures are dropping and leaves are starting to fall from the trees. Something else that is “falling” is the member price for our Professional Development meetings! If you attended the September meeting, you learned that the member price for those who register early has been reduced from $20 to $15.  One of our goals this year is to return value to our members by offering greater discounts, and I encourage all members to take advantage of this.

We have had some member feedback regarding having meetings on different dates. Please note that the October Professional Development Meeting is on Tuesday, October 21. Due to the earlier date the early registration deadline is on the preceding Thursday, October 16 rather than Sunday. To register for the October meeting with Lon Roberts, go to http://www.asqdallas.org/registration.html. Details are in the Professional Development Meeting section of the newsletter. Please visit our website, www.asqdallas.org, and our calendar to get the latest information on events planned for the upcoming year. Information on other upcoming events:

  • Time is running out since the Texas Quality Cruise sails October 26, but if you are seriously interested in participating please contact John Breckline, jbreckline@usa.com
  • Our November Professional Development meeting is on Thursday, November 20 – this is the third Thursday due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
  • Watch the newsletter for information on our first webinar in December. This is another goal we have this year, to bring members development opportunities in a variety of formats.

I hope you will consider volunteering with the Dallas Section, whether you can spend a lot of time or only an hour a month. Volunteering with the Section is a great way to meet people and earn Recertification Units at the same time. Please visit this link to view open positions or contact me at marion.bize@alcatel-lucent.com to find out which committees need members.

One of our goals is to continually improve by implementing suggestions from our members. We always welcome input from you. Please email me at marion.bize@alcatel-lucent.com with your suggestions.

Our Vision: The Dallas ASQ Section 1402 is the leader of quality and performance excellence for the Dallas area.
Our Mission: It is our Mission to provide the information, forums, certifications, and networking that enhances members’ value.
