Chair's Message - Marion Bize - December, 2008
As we approach year-end, I wish all of our members and their families a wonderful Holiday season and a safe and happy New Year. I hope to see you all at our January meeting which will have a Career theme. The topic for our dinner speaker David Rawles is ‘Networking on Steroids’ and his talk is preceded by a tutorial from Charles Coppage on Resume Writing. These are certainly skills we can all use to enhance ourselves as quality professionals.
We had a new ‘first’ this month for the Dallas Section and held our first ever webinar on December 10 as part of our goal to increase program offerings. The feedback from those who participated was very good, so members can look forward to more of these events in the future.
- To register for the January 22 meeting with David Rawles, go to http://www.asqdallas.org/registration.html. Details are in the Professional Development Meeting section of the newsletter and early registration runs through January 18. Please visit our website, www.asqdallas.org, and our calendar to get the latest information on events planned for the upcoming year.
- It is time to start thinking about the scholarship if you have a family member planning to apply. Also, we need a few members to participate on the committee to review the scholarship applications; contact Scholarship Chair Seshu Pabbisetty at svpabbisetty@yahoo.com. The application deadline is February 28, 2009.
Sadly we lost another colleague recently. John Bille passed away suddenly on November 19. John was very active in the quality field in the DFW area for many years. Click here to read more about John.
I hope you will consider volunteering with the Dallas Section, whether you can spend a lot of time or only a little time each month. Volunteering with the Section is a great way to meet people, gain leadership experience and earn Recertification Units at the same time. Please visit this link to view open positions or contact me at marion.bize@alcatel-lucent.com to find out which committees need members.
One of our goals is to continually improve by implementing suggestions from our members. We always welcome input from you. Please email me at marion.bize@alcatel-lucent.com with your suggestions.
Our Vision: The Dallas ASQ Section 1402 is the leader of quality and performance excellence for the Dallas area.
Our Mission: It is our Mission to provide the information, forums, certifications, and networking that enhances members’ value.
