Chair's Message - Marion Bize - March, 2009
I want to thank the members of Section 1402, especially the Leadership Team, for your kind words, assistance and teamwork during my father’s recent illness and passing. Things happened very quickly and I was not prepared for how much time I would need to spend out of town. I am very grateful for all your support.
On a positve note, you will want to know about a special benefit from ASQ. There is an Unemployed Dues program for ASQ members who might not be able to renew due to unemployment. This program provides a very good benefit for Full, Senior and Fellow members. Given the current state of the economy and the job market this seems like a good time to make sure everyone is aware of this benefit. Read more about it in the ‘Special News of the Month’ section of the newsletter.
- Please join us on March 26 for Silvana Smith speaking on “Salary Evaluation Project” - problem solving using graphical data analysis. She will also give the tutorial on Minitab Tips and Tricks. Click here to register for the March meeting. Details are in the Professional Development Meeting section of the newsletter; early registration runs through March 22. Please visit www.asqdallas.org and our calendar to get the latest information on events.
- We are implementing a Mentor program for new Section members. If you are an “experienced” member of ASQ and are interested in serving as a mentor, please contact Kiami Rogers .
- The Fort Worth Cowtown Roundup is coming on Friday, April 24. In support of the Fort Worth Section we will give away two conference registrations as part of our raffle drawing at our March 26 meeting. For more information on the Fort Worth conference visit www.asqfortworth.org.
- There were no applicants for this year’s scholarship program. If you have feedback on the program please contact Seshu Pabbisetty.
I hope you will consider volunteering with the Dallas Section, whether you can spend a few hours or only a few minutes each month. Volunteering with the Section is a great way to meet people, gain leadership experience and earn Recertification Units at the same time. Please visit this link to view open positions or contact me to find out which committees need members.
One of our goals is to continually improve by implementing suggestions from our members. We always welcome input from you. Please email me with your suggestions.
Our Vision: The Dallas ASQ Section 1402 is the leader of quality and performance excellence for the Dallas area.
Our Mission: It is our Mission to provide the information, forums, certifications, and networking that enhances members’ value.
Marion Bize, Chair - ASQ Dallas Section 1402
