Chair's Message - Marion Bize - April, 2009

I hope I am not alone in feeling like 2009 is just flying by! There are only a few more opportunities left to participate in our professional development activities before this ASQ ‘year’ draws to a close on June 30.

If you did not attend the March Professional Development meeting, you not only missed an excellent speaker but also an opportunity to win a free attendance at the Fort Worth Cowtown Roundup on April 24. Congratulations to members Steve Allen and Deborah Alston who won the drawing for conference attendance.

• Please join us on April 23 for Robert Freeman of Practical Perspectives speaking on “Quality through the Eyes of Business”, an interactive session on how system-based thinking works and where quality fits into this thought process. Robert will also give the tutorial on “The Integrated Management System”. Click here to register for the April meeting. • We are implementing a Mentor program for new Section members. If you are an “experienced” member of ASQ and are interested in serving as a mentor, please contact Kiami Rogers.

I hope you will consider volunteering with the Dallas Section, whether you can spend a few hours or only a few minutes each month. Volunteering with the Section is a great way to meet people, gain leadership experience and earn Recertification Units at the same time. One of our goals is to continually improve by implementing suggestions from our members. We always welcome input from you. Please email me with your suggestions.
