Chair's Message - Marion Bize - May, 2009
The ASQ fiscal year is quickly coming to a close, with our final meeting of the ‘year’ coming up on May 28. At our April Professional Development meeting, we had a great presentation by Robert Freeman of Practical Perspectives speaking on “Quality through the Eyes of Business”, a session on how system-based thinking works and where quality fits into this thought process. We also welcomed several new members who recently joined ASQ and were attending a Professional Development meeting for the first time.
- Please join us on May 28 for Robert Damelio of The Bottom Line Group. Robert will speak on “Improving Knowledge Work: Lessons Learned”, covering the application of seven principles for improving workflow that helped reduce the lead time for a given process. Robert will also give the tutorial on “Workflow Design Checklist”. Click here to register for the May meeting. Details are in the Professional Development Meeting section of the newsletter; early registration runs through May 24. Please visit www.asqdallas.org and our calendar to get the latest information on events.
- It is recertification time again. If you are recertifying, please contact Recertification Chair Scott Stevens regarding your options for submitting your recertification journal.
- We are implementing a Mentor program for new Section members. If you are an “experienced” member of ASQ and are interested in serving as a mentor, please contact Kiami Rogers.
- Mark your calendars for a one-day Fall Conference on Friday, October 23. We are lining up some great speakers for this one-day learning event. Please email me if you are interested in presenting at the Fall Conference.
I hope you will consider volunteering with the Dallas Section, whether you have a few hours or only a few minutes each month. Volunteering with the Section is a great way to meet people, gain leadership experience and earn Recertification Units at the same time. Please see the Special News of the Month in the newsletter for more information about open positions on the Leadership Team.
One of our goals is to continually improve by implementing suggestions from our members. We always welcome input from you. Please email me with your suggestions.
Our Vision: The Dallas ASQ Section 1402 is the leader of quality and performance excellence for the Dallas area.
Our Mission: It is our Mission to provide the information, forums, certifications, and networking that enhances members’ value.
Marion Bize, Chair - ASQ Dallas Section 1402
