Regional Councilors Collaborate on Initiatives

The Regional Councilor program exists to promote the FD&C divisional goals and objectives by supporting FD&C activities at the regional level. The Regional Councilors promote FD&C initiatives to sections and FD&C companies within their respective regions. There are currently 20 Regional Councilors serving in the program.

These volunteers have diverse backgrounds and are representative of the FD&C membership. The regional councilors work in food, drug and cosmetic companies or related industries. Some work as consultants and one even works for a regulatory agency.

As a regional councilor, Tim Parrent had the pleasure of witnessing this eclectic group in action recently. It is an interesting mix of people. Each councilor brought his/her experience and perspective to the group creating a great environment for collaboration and learning. When you get a group like this working together, great things happen!

The Regional Councilors act as liaisons between the individual members and the FD&C Division Board in a variety of ways. Below are some of the current regional councilor’s initiatives:

  • Hosting local FD&C events (meetings, workshops, plant tours, networking events, etc.)
  • Performing trend analysis on division activities within the region
  • Providing FD&C Division informational training
  • Preparing quality related presentations
  • Developing Drug Quality Standard Abstract
  • Developing a list of significant FD&C companies within the region
  • Developing a list of regulatory/industry speakers within the region
  • Developing relationships with local regulatory agencies
  • Networking and discussing current topics in the FD&C LinkedIn Group
  • Reviewing upcoming regulation and providing comments to ASQ, as necessary
